Role and Responsibility of the Department
- Implement rules, regulation, and guidelines on government budgets as well as carry out internal auditing in the government
- Evaluate performance in financial and budgetary implementation of government agencies
- Monitor budgetary disbursement and other related activities
- Administer government cash reserves and borrowings
- Keep the state accounting
- Administer salaries and pension payments in addition to carried-over budgets
- Oversee operation of state enterprises and other entities with government stakes below 50%
- Enhance the Department's operation in regional areas
- Carry out other duties and tasks as assigned
Scope of Operation
As can be seen from the above role and responsibility, the Department's scope of operation encompasses a broad range of activities : budgetary administration and state accounting, fiscal disciplines setting, government reserves and public debts administra
tion, internal auditing, personnel development, punishment for abuses, state enterprises monitoring, and fiscal and financial policy formulation.
Future Direction
- Further improve the government accounting procedures
- Modify and adjust rules, regulations and guidelines on budgetary disbursement to be in conformity with the country's overall development policy
- Improve efficiency in administration of non-budgetary funds
- Refine salaries and pension system as well as other fringe benefits for government officials
- Improve the public debts management system
- Adjust the internal auditing system
- Develop efficiency of state enterprises operation
