Mr. Julapun Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance, reported on the progress of the first day of the opening of registration and identity verification for the digital wallet scheme through the “Thang Rath” application. The overall registration for the digital wallet scheme, Today is the first day that citizens with smartphones were able to register, about 10.5 million people had successfully registered for the scheme within six hours of registration starting at 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This is considered a great success in moving the project forward. Regarding the morning period when some citizens failed to register successfully, it was not because the application crashed, but due to a large number of people trying to register simultaneously. This caused some system hiccups. It is believed that the situation will improve as people gradually register at different times. However, for those who have successfully registered, there will be a process to verify the accuracy of their information to determine if they meet the project’s qualifications. The government will announce the results to everyone on September 22nd through the Thang Rath application at Meeting Room 401, 4th Floor, 150th Anniversary Building, Ministry of Finance, August 1, 2024.
